Classic Slide Control Object Issue

Hi everyone. Today I am going to discuss an unexpected behavior I found with the new FileMaker 13 slide controls under the Classic theme.

This issue involves aligning an object within the slide control to either the left or right side. If you put the object exactly on the edge of the slide control and move the slide control, the object will not move with the slide control. This operates contrary to how an object within a slide control should operate, namely the object should move with the slide control, just like objects within portals move with the portal object as it is moved around.

This issue seems to only manifest itself with the Classic theme and is not reproducible in other themes as far as I know. If you are using the Classic theme, please be cautious with the slide controls as you may end up with this issue in your solution.

  1. I noticed the same thing too. I had been playing with a couple of themes and didn’t really think much of it at the time. Moving the right-aligned element to the left 1 pixel fixes the issue. Well, fixes it functionally, not visually.

As I was using a different theme for the database I never really went back to explore it more.

Good to see it wasn’t just me.
