Position: Technical Lead
Location: Chicago, IL

Technical Leads for Soliant serve as chief architects, business analysts and lead developers for client engagements. Technical Leads are responsible for the quality of Soliant's technical work with a client and are required to operate successfully with a wide degree of independence. Technical Leads create prototypes, assist Project Managers with project plans, create estimates and write technical specifications. Frequently they develop systems and maintain code as well. Key responsibilities include:

• Provide deep technical expertise to the organization and to project teams.
• Serve as business analysts for projects; work with clients to define goals, propose solutions, identify value.
• Write technical specification and requirements documents.
• Take responsibility for project estimates; provide Project Managers with complete, timely information regarding project progress.
• Make architectural decisions
• Mentor developers on projects.
• Write software.
• Anticipate risks, propose creative solutions.
• Learn new technologies, participate in technology communities, improve.

• 4-year degree or equivalent; post-grad experience a plus.
• Advanced knowledge and experience in one or more of the technology specializations of the company, primarily either FileMaker Pro, Adobe Flex or PHP.
• Current certification in select technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Proven ability to work to budgets and deadlines; experience in estimating, monitoring, and controlling project budgets.
• Ability to interact effectively with clients.
• Aptitude for requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation.
• Strong skills in application design and architecture.
• Established experience leading a development team on complex multi-faceted projects.
• Ability to mentor and train junior developers.
• Either local or willing to locate.
