“Bob Bowers and the rest of the Soliant team were valuable partners in creating the new FTS, thanks to their world-class FileMaker expertise, writing talent and production capabilities.”
Not just in page count (though with plenty of that as well), the FileMaker professional training curriculum, trainer authorization process, and certification program continue to expand with increasing sales of the materials and growing volumes of students trained with each subsequent version. Now in conjunction with the launch of FileMaker 11, FileMaker, Inc. and Soliant Consulting have completed the latest edition of the FileMaker Training Series.

"Our new FTS is designed to help FileMaker developers of all kinds master the essentials of the exciting new FileMaker 11 product line."
Ryan RosenbergVice President, Marketing and Services
FileMaker, Inc. again turned to Soliant to deliver what is their fifth edition of the curriculum. Weighing in at 12 modules, 67 lessons, 744 pages, 28 QuickTime movies, and 23 sample database files, the project was a massive undertaking and delivered under an extremely tight timeline in keeping with the FileMaker product's release cycle.
One of the biggest challenges of the work was compressing the work into the window between the beta release of FileMaker Pro and the launch of the product. Not only did the team need to write, edit, test, and lay out print-ready content, they needed to participate in FileMaker's external testing process and become expertly versed in the new software.

Soliant has an efficient project management process that ensured it met the aggressive deadlines. Each module was managed independently and driven by a primary author, with reviews from the other authors to ensure consistency and technical accuracy. Led by Craig Stabler (Managing Director for Soliant's East Coast office) as the project manager, the team used a web-based collaboration tool and frequent short "scrum" meetings to juggle the literally hundreds of separate files and versions.
"Soliant continues to execute this work smoothly and professionally. We appreciate their experience, passion for FileMaker, and ability to manage complex projects and hit their deadlines."Jon SiglerVice President, Product Management
The work required a multidisciplinary approach: Soliant coupled its deep technical background in FileMaker with writing abilities (the team has now published six books, five FTS training curricula, dozens of articles and hundreds of blog postings) along with decades of experience teaching classes. Bob Bowers is one of the most experienced trainers in the FileMaker community and regularly teaches classes in Chicago, IL while serving as Soliant's CEO.
