1. If you don’t already own Flex Builder, you can download a free 30-day trial version. To do so, you need to create an Adobe account if you don’t already have one.

2. Once you get logged in, look for Flex Builder 2 and select the version you prefer. For this demo, we will use Macintosh OS X. Since both Flex Builder and FileMaker Server Advanced both run on Java, you will be able to follow along fine if you are working on Windows.

3. Once you have completed the download, quit all running Web browsers, as the installer will need to set up a special debugging version of Flash Player 9. Run the installer. Follow the on-screen instructions, making sure to leave the Flash Player bit selected (the default choice).

4. Flex Builder is installed inside a directory called Adobe Flex Builder 2. Look inside for the Flex Builder application. If you’d like, create a shortcut to the application in a convenient location, such as the Desktop.

5. Launch the application. If you have just purchased a license for Flex Builder, you will have the chance to enter your serial number(s) before the application opens. If you are doing the 30-day trial, click Try instead. This will begin your 30-day count-down.
